Opening the Irish Dance London Championship

London Irish Dance Open

Here is my welcome speech at the Irish Dance London Open on 6 October 2014:

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen and talented dancers

My name is Prem Goyal. I am the Patron of Carragher Academy. And it is my great pleasure to welcome you all to “The London Championships” with open arms. In particular, I want to thank the guests and participants who have travelled from outside of London to be here.

Are you ready to see some world class Irish dancing? I cannot tell you how proud I am to be Patron of Carragher Academy. This dance school proves beyond any doubt how much talent we have in Southwark and, in fact, in London.

But talent is nothing without nurture. So, I want to pay tribute to Sarah and Jessica Carragher – the incredible sisters behind Carragher Academy and today’s competition. All of this is possible because of their dedication, hard work and passion. This is leadership in action.

To recognize their contributions, I invite you to join me in giving them a standing ovation.  By the way, if you are wondering why I’m so calm, let me tell you the secret: because I made Sarah promise me that she wouldn’t make me dance!

Thank you all again for coming.

Now let the competition begin.

Let us enjoy some wonderful dancing.
